Yesterday when I went out for my meal I thought it would be sensible to book a table in advance. So when I was on the bus I rang up the restaurant to ask for a table for four. The man asked for my name so I said, ‘Holland’ and then asked when I wanted the table. As we were already on the bus I just stammered, ‘soonish’.
The man let out a chuckle and said, ‘Ok so table for four, Holland, soonish?’
I’m so elegant.
